I agree - EXCEPT - using 'speech to text' to ME is easier on a
    phone. :-)

I agree, so long as it understands your speech. :D What gets me is when
I say words like "were" or "we're", or "your" and "you're" -- it *always*
picks the wrong one. You would think the context would cause it to guess correctly, but it always chooses the contraction when it should choose the word, and vise-versa. Always.

Also several words it just never gets right. It works good enough for a
short text but I wouldn't have wanted to try speaking this message and expecting it to get it right. :D

Heh, I have enough trouble using Vi with my fingers. Notepad++ is my editor choice.

That was my editor of choice on the Windows machines at work. For the x windows environment here at home, I usually use medit or featherpad.

For winders i use editpad pro. it's a great editor and i've probably been using it for 20 years. there's a free version but the paid version is 60 bucks. i think notepad++ is a open source clone of it.

for the linix i use joes editor.

for console win32 i use Kinesics Text Editor. the site is gone but i will
put up a mirror once i find the osx version.
here is what i have so far if you want to try it out https://file.kiwi/64362a6e#GXoPWx-uZqwkhZBgBbsuWw

for a good edit.com clone in windows there's yuri's editor yedit.

I like featherpad pretty well, but have mostly switched to Mousepad. I
think it's even better than featherpad, and I like the "Cobalt" color
scheme you can select. Give it a look, I bet you'll like it.

I have it installed on at least one machine. I will check it out next
    chance I get.
