• Web message post issue

    From Rixter@VERT/RICKSBBS to All on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 12:21:55
    I was noticing that when my callers post messages via the web interface that the messages posted today total does not increase. It only increases when callers post via telnet. I remember a similar problem with files being downloaded via the web interface having the same problem. The download totals issue was corrected last year. Is there a fix for the new message posting totals via web interface? I am using 3.19b. Thank you and have a great day. Rixter

    webv4/lib/forum.js contains this line:

    if (ret) user.posted_message();

    And testing with v3.20c, it appears to work:

    $ grep Posts /sbbs/ctrl/dsts.ini
    Posts=670
    Posts=1 <- was incremented from 0 via ecWeb forum post

    thank you. I already have that same line in my forum.js file and it is only counting messages from the telnet posting side. I have around 5% of my callers using the web interface to read and post messages and it is not reflecting their posts counts. It looks great and works great. I glance at it at times when I use my tablet to log in and see if anyone has added any messages on my BBS and it is only showin count increases when they post on the telnet side. It is no big deal. It does increase the message count for the day when use the telnet interface to poast messages. Thank you for writing back to me Digital Man!

    I can confirm it seems to with the latest release (v3.20), though I see no evidence of any bug fix in the change history. Once you upgrade, if the problem persists, please let me know.

    Thank you very much. I will make myself a note to let you know. I do not plan on upgrading while running on the current machine until it expires. I promise I will let you know when I move over to the newer PC, and have upgraded, whether or not the problem persists.
