Re: [wiki.synchro.net] page changed: custom:javascript

Greetings:
It would be really helpful if it were possible to do searches/sorts
with echo-mail and files areas. It gets rather tedious having to
scroll page after page looking for a particular group or file.
Basically, if it's a list, you should be able to search/sort it.

Try DDMsgReader. It should be in xtrn. The ability to search an echo is already available. IN the default menu it's "F" for "Find text in messages".

That feature is in stock Synchronet too, not just DDMsgReader.

I'm not sure what this has to do with an updated wiki article but ok.

For listing the file areas & message groups/sub-boards, the DD area choosers let you search the list (with / to find and N to find next), and they have user configuration options to sort the lists too.

I'm looking at this from a user's perspective. If this exists, it's not listed on the help screens.
Subject line would be sufficient.

This isn't about the messages themselves, I know that part. This is about the group listings and the file areas. E.g., FIDONET has page after page of groups and they're in no particular order, which makes it tedious to find a particular item.

It's not? For me it's there when I view the help screen:
There's the ;find command you can use to find areas (message or file areas) with a particular keyword in their name/description.

I don't see this on any help screen, nor does it do anything on various msg. or file screens. Where, specifically, can this be invoked?

OK, I guess I wasn't being specific enough. Yep, the "/" and "N" are listed in the help screen, and the command bar for looking up msg.
areas, and they do work. However, if you don't have a keyword in mind,
it would still be useful to be able to sort the list in various ways.
The area I ment to focus on was the Message Scan Configuration (&,S).
I needed to switch off a number of FIDOnet groups and the random manner
in which they're listed made it quite tedious.

The way they are displayed in a listing is a result of how the Sysop of that particular board decided to do it.

My area choosers can sort now, as of the latest update. That was just over a week ago, on June 18. My area choosers now have a user settings dialog which you can open with Ctrl-U; in there, there's an option for sorting.

From the main or file menus of the default command shell...

What areas will have this, so I can keep an eye out when/if it's available?

As I mentioned earlier, this is from the end-user POV, not Sysop, so that wouldn't apply to me.
